This is a PMS (Prototype Model Series) duplicate of the famous BC Rich "Rich Bich" 10 string guitar. Completely hand-carved by the original luthier (Sal Gonzales) who hand-crafted those famous "Rich Bich" guitars owned by Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Paul Chapman, Rick Derringer, Jimmy Crespo, Neal Geraldo, and Dave Mustaine to name a few. The "Rich Bich" guitar was designed by Neal Moser who was employed as an independent contractor by Bernie Rico. In 1976, Neal was contracted by HHI/BC Rich to produce 25 (one for each year) duplicate models of the original prototype model. This is the actual proto type for that series! Due to legal entanglements between Neal Moser and BC Rich - only 15 of these incredible guitars would ever become reality and the serial numbers were numbered 1 thru 15. The serial number on this one is "PROTO". They were purchased by collectors in Japan, Australia, and the U.S.A. This is likely to be the only one you will ever see. #1 was said to have sold for $15,000.00 USD at a NAMM show, but I cannot confirm if this is true or not. Crafted to the original prototype specs using African black walnut "wings", maple neck, Brazilian rosewood fretboard, stainless-steel fretting, MOP inlays, Grover "Imperial" tuners, and original issue MOP vintage style "R" logo. The electronics are Neal's original spec that mirror the original prototype model. The pickups are authentic Dimarzio. The bridge is an authentic USA Leo Quan bridge. The neck design is true to the original prototype. The back of the headstock has been hand-signed by Neal Moser, and has been stamped "Made In USA" with its PROTO designation. Many of the 80's model BC Rich guitars were crafted with thin necks which had a negative effect on tone and intonation. The thicker neck dimensions on all 15 prototype models hold true to the original prototype design. There are only two 10 string Biches in the world with this designation and this one is in absolutely mint collector condition. Comes with the custom fitted G&G case.
