Fantastic all original 1974 Rickenbacker 360/12 OS. Extremely rare 1974 special order Rickenbacker 360/12 OS that is double bound. These coveted "Old Style" guitars are rarely seen, this may very well be one of only a few done in 1974 as Rickenbacker was not producing this model at that time and special order guitars were not normally done as it would slow down production. These "Old Style" Ricks were discontinued in 1964 when Rickenbacker went to the rounded front and single binding, however they were available as a special order through the mid sixties. The last 360/12 OS was produced in Fireglo and made in December 1968 and had of course the traditional 21 fret neck. After 1969 the 360s had the rounded edges and a 24 fret neck. This rare 1974 360/12 OS has the 24 fret neck as well as the OS body style. This is an all original 1974 360/12 OS, this is the real deal! This one has the squared front "old style" body and is double bound and is marked 360/12-OS-L under the pickguard. It is not one of the later WB models from the early 80s those were also bound around the sound hole and are merely a reissue.. It is built just as George Harrison's guitar save the "R" tailpiece and is and it in prisitne condition with a few light marks that won't even show up in photos and a mark on the headstock from stringing it. A wonderful one owner special order instrument that shows very little playwear has a low action and plays incredibly well. Beautiful flamed maple top and back, Fireglo finish that is as bright and new as the day it was made, rosewood laquered board with real crushed pearl sharktooth inlays, "R" tailpiece, Kluson double line tuners, blender knob and a killer tone. Early high gain pickups were ordered custom wound and are spot on reading 11.8k neck and 5.81k at the bridge. Plenty of bottom end from the neck and that vintage jingle from the bridge without sounding shrill. Rickenbacker's 360/12-OS is the holy grail and the most sought after of all electric 12 string guitars and this ultra rare 1974 OS vintage piece is second to none. Both mono and stereo (Rick-O-Sound) inputs. Comes with the original case. Do your research, check with Rickenbacker and you'll find that is an extremely rare and hard to find guitar in any year let alone a year that they were not produced. Similar models have sold online for 18 to 30k! This guitar is 100% and will surely impress even the picky conoseurs. We do require overnite insured shipping on this guitar.
